About

Keesaragutta Ramalingeswara Temple, also known as Ramalingeswara Swamy Devasthanam or Kesaragiri Kshetram, is a prominent ancient hill temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Located in Keesara Village, Medchal Malkajgiri district, Telangana, this revered pilgrimage centre draws devotees from across the region. The temple is perched atop a scenic hillock, offering panoramic views and a tranquil atmosphere for spiritual seekers and visitors alike.

The main deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, with the sanctum also housing shrines for Bhavani and Sivadurga. A unique feature of the temple is the presence of 101 Shiva Lingams, said to have been brought by Hanuman.

The temple complex reflects a mixed and renovated architectural style, with historical links to the Vishnukundin dynasty and later modifications by the Kakatiyas, though the exact historical period remains unknown or disputed.

Keesaragutta Temple is recognized as a living heritage temple, continuing its traditions and rituals to this day. Devotees can participate in various poojas such as Abhishekam, Rudrabhishekam, Archana, and Aarathi, conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Darshan at the temple is free of charge, making it accessible to all. The temple timings are from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with early mornings (5–8 AM), evening aarti, winter months (November to February), and festival seasons being the best times to visit.

Keesaragutta Ramalingeswara Temple is especially vibrant during festivals like Maha Shivaratri (February-March), Karthika Masam (October-November), Ramalingeshwara Brahmotsavam, Sri Rama Navami (March-April), Hanuman Jayanthi, and Shiva Kalyanam.

During these times, free Annadanam is provided, and devotees can partake in prasadam such as Pulihora (Tamarind Rice) and Laddu. Reaching the temple is convenient, with clear directions from Hyderabad/Secunderabad via Uppal and ECIL 'X' Road, or from NH44 through Ghatkesar.

The temple is accessible by road, with ample on-site parking available both at the base and near the main temple. The nearest railway stations are Ghatkesar (12 km) and Secunderabad (35 km), while Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad is about 70 km away.

For accommodation, pilgrims have options like the Haritha Hotel (Telangana Tourism) near the temple, as well as private hotels and guest houses in ECIL, Sainikpuri, and Ghatkesar.

Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Ramalingeswara Temple Complex & Caves, scenic hillock picnic spots, Ranganayaka Swami Temple, and Sri Kasi Vishwanath Swamy Temple. Traditional attire is preferred for both men and women, with shorts and sleeveless tops to be avoided.

Photography is allowed in general areas, and the temple’s official website and contact phone (+91 7756543576) provide further information for planning your visit.
