Situated amidst the serene Kandoliya Hills in Pauri, within the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, this ancient pilgrimage centre draws devotees and visitors seeking spiritual solace and natural beauty.

Kandoliya Devta Temple is recognized as a living heritage temple, with its origins attributed by local tradition to the Katyuri dynasty and the Dungriyal Negi community. The historical period of its construction remains unknown or disputed, adding to the temple’s aura of antiquity and reverence.

The temple is especially vibrant during festivals such as Jai Kandolia Mahotsav in June, Maha Shivaratri in February-March, and both Chaitra and Sharad Navratri. These occasions see an influx of devotees, and the atmosphere is charged with devotion and celebration.

The best times to visit are early mornings, especially between 5–8 AM, and during the winter and summer months. Weekdays are generally less crowded, making them ideal for a peaceful darshan experience.

Reaching the temple is straightforward: visitors must first arrive at Pauri town, the district headquarters. From the main town center or bus stand, the temple is about 2 km north in the Kandoliya Hills.

Motor vehicles can reach a designated approach point, after which a short 150–200 meter walk up a cemented or stepped forest trail through deodar, oak, and pine trees leads to the temple. Limited parking is available near the approach point, but it tends to fill up during weekends and festivals.

Accommodation is conveniently available in Pauri town, just 2 km from the temple. Nearby attractions include Kandoliya Park, Ransi Stadium, and the Nag Dev Temple, offering additional places of interest for visitors.

Outdoor photography is permitted along the forest pathways and viewpoints, but is strictly prohibited inside or directly facing the main shrine during rituals.
