Kainchi Dham (Neem Karoli Baba Ashram Temple)

Also known by local names such as Neem Karoli Ashram, Neem Karori Ashram, and Shri Kainchi Dham Ashram, this temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Hanuman, with shrines for Lord Shiva and the samadhi of Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaj-ji), who established the ashram in the modern era.

Set amidst the tranquil hills, Kainchi Dham attracts devotees seeking darshan and spiritual solace. The temple is open to visitors from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM during summer (April–October), and from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM in winter (November–March).

Entry for darshan is free, and there is a recommended dress code: men and women should wear modest clothing covering shoulders and knees, with women advised to cover their heads with a scarf or stole in the inner sanctum.

Kainchi Dham is celebrated for its annual festivals, including the Pratishtha Divas / Annual Bhandara (Foundation Day Mela) on June 15, Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, and Janmashtami.

During the June 15th Bhandara, a massive free community feast (Annadanam) is organized, serving signature prasad such as Malpua and vegetarian meals. Daily prasad is also distributed to all visitors.

Reaching Kainchi Dham is convenient via road from Delhi, following NH9 to Haldwani/Kathgodam, then ascending the Bhowali-Almora Highway (NH 109) to Kainchi village. The nearest railway stations are Kathgodam (38 km) and Haldwani (42 km), while Pantnagar Airport (70 km) is the closest airport.
