About

Dwarkadhish Temple, also known locally as Raja Mandir or Dwarkadhish Mandir, is a renowned ancient temple and pilgrimage centre in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Situated in Pathak Gali, near Vishram Ghat in Choubey Para, this temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Krishna, with Rukmini Devi also worshipped here.

The temple showcases a beautiful Rajasthani architectural style and stands as a living heritage temple built during the British colonial era by Seth Gokul Das Parikh. Pilgrims and visitors are welcomed with free darshan, and the temple is open throughout the year.

The temple timings differ by season: in summer, it is open from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM; in winter, from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The best times to visit are in the morning between 8 AM and 12 PM, during the evening aarti, or during the vibrant festival season.

A variety of poojas and aartis are performed daily in Hindi and Sanskrit.

The schedule includes Mangla Aarti at 5:00 AM (summer) or 5:30 AM (winter), Shringar Aarti at 7:00 AM (summer) or 7:30 AM (winter), Gwal Aarti from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, Raj Bhog Aarti from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, Utthapan Aarti from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Sandhya Aarti from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and Shayan Aarti at 8:30 PM (winter) or 9:00 PM (summer).

These rituals offer devotees a spiritually enriching experience.

Dwarkadhish Temple is a focal point for several major Hindu festivals, including the Hindola Festival in Shravana (July-August), Janmashtami in Bhadrapada (August-September), Holi in March, Radhashtami, Sharad Purnima, Dussehra, and Deepawali during autumn.

Special prasadam such as dry fruits, candies, peda, and laddu is distributed, especially during festivals. Reaching the temple is convenient: arrive at Mathura Junction (2 km away) or Mathura Bus Stand, then hire an e-rickshaw or auto-rickshaw to Dwarkadhish Mandir.

The final approach involves a short walk through bustling market lanes. Alternatively, visitors can take a boat to Vishram Ghat and walk to the temple. There is no dedicated parking, so using public transport is recommended.

For accommodation, numerous guesthouses and dharamshalas are available near Vishram Ghat and the temple, with modern hotels near City Center and Mathura Junction. More options can be found in Vrindavan, 15 km away.

Nearby attractions include Vishram Ghat, Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple Complex, Vrindavan Temple Complex, Govardhan Hill, and the Government Museum, Mathura. For more information, visit the official website at https://dwarkadhishtemple.org or call 732-254-0061.

Photography is prohibited inside the main sanctum, and visitors are advised to leave cameras outside. The temple maintains a respectful dress code, requesting all visitors to dress conservatively, covering shoulders and knees.
