Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple Melukote

Also known by several local names such as Thirunarayanapura, Selva Pillai Temple, Thirunarayana, Cheluvapille Raya, Ramapriya, Yadavagiri Temple, and Yadugiri Temple, this temple stands as a significant spiritual destination for Vaishnavites and devotees from across India.

The temple’s origins trace back to the Chola period, with its construction attributed to Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. It later received patronage from the Vijayanagara Empire and the Wodeyars of Mysore, adding to its rich historical and architectural legacy.

The Dravidian architectural style is evident in its majestic gopurams, intricately carved pillars, and expansive courtyards, making it a state heritage and a living heritage temple. The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Cheluvanarayana Swamy.

The temple also houses shrines for Goddess Thaayar, Ramanujacharya, Hanuman, and other Vaishnavite forms.

Free Annadanam is provided at specific times. To reach Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, pilgrims can travel from Bengaluru via the Bangalore-Mysore Highway (NH 275) to Srirangapatna or Mandya, then proceed towards Jakkanahalli Cross.

From Mysore, take the highway to Srirangapatna, turn towards Pandavapura, and continue to Melukote. KSRTC buses connect Mandya and Pandavapura to Melukote. The nearest railway stations are Pandavapura (25 km), Mandya (33 km), and Mysore Junction (50 km).
