Chamunda Mata Temple Mehrangarh

This ancient shrine is dedicated to Goddess Shakti (Amman) and is often referred to as the fort’s guardian shrine, reflecting its deep spiritual significance and royal heritage.

The temple stands as a prominent pilgrimage centre, attracting devotees and visitors seeking darshan and blessings from the presiding deity. The temple’s architecture is distinctly Rajasthani, harmonizing with the grandeur of Mehrangarh Fort.

Pilgrims are welcomed daily for darshan during the temple’s timings: 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The best time to visit is early morning between 5–8 AM, during the morning hours, or in the evening for the aarti.

The winter months from November to February and the vibrant festival season see a surge of devotees, especially during Navratri (Sharad Navratri), Dussehra (Vijayadashami), and the temple’s installation anniversary in August.

Daily rituals at Chamunda Mata Temple include the Morning Aarti (Mangala/Pratah) around 5:00 AM – 5:15 AM and the Evening/Shayan Aarti between 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM – 8:15 PM. Other regular poojas, Manglik poojas, and individual archana or shringar are performed in Sanskrit and Hindi.

Entry for darshan is free for all devotees. After aarti, prasadam such as sweets, mishri, dry fruits, or flowers is distributed. While daily annadanam is not conducted, community bhandaras are organized on major festival days.

Reaching the temple is convenient: arrive in Jodhpur via air, rail, or road, then proceed to Mehrangarh Fort’s main entry gate (Jai Pol / Fort Road) by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or on foot. After entering the fort, visitors can walk or use the lift to reach the temple.

Jodhpur Junction Railway Station is just 5 km away, and Jodhpur Airport is 7 km from the fort. Ample parking is available at the fort base, with elevator access for easier mobility, though the temple approach may require some walking.
