Bahucharaji Temple (Shakti Peeth)

Situated along the Mansarovar and Mehsana-Becharaji Highway area, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, worshipped here as Bahuchar Mata.

The temple also houses shrines for other deities including Shri Sahariya Mahadev, Shri Guteshwar Mahadev, Shri Kachrolia Hanuman, Baliyadev, and Bhatuji Maharaj, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings.

The temple’s origins trace back to the Maratha period, with the major structure built around 1783 AD by Manaji Rao Gaekwad of Baroda State and Maratha leaders such as Fadanvesh.

Managed by a local panchayat trust, the Bahucharaji Temple is renowned for its spiritual ambiance and draws pilgrims from across Gujarat and beyond. Darshan at Bahucharaji Temple is free for all devotees.

The temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM, with a short afternoon closure around 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The best times to visit are during the winter months (November to February), during festival seasons, early mornings between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, and at the time of evening aarti.

Devotees can participate in various poojas, including the Morning Aarti (5:30 AM/6:30 AM), Afternoon Aarti or Rajbhog (12:00 PM), and Evening Aarti (7:00 PM). Special pujas such as Durga Saptashati, Chandi Path, Dudh Abhishek, and Satyanarayan Katha are also performed.

Poojas are conducted in Gujarati, Sanskrit, and Hindi. Visitors are required to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti, kurta, or full-length trousers with conservative shirts, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or long kurtas with dupattas.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main temple complex and near the inner sanctum, and mobile phones and cameras must be switched off or put away before approaching the central shrine. The temple is easily accessible from Ahmedabad (about 100–110 km by road) and Mehsana City (35 km).

Regular GSRTC buses and private cabs operate from Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Patan. The nearest railway stations are Becharaji Railway Station, Mehsana Junction (35 km), and Ahmedabad Junction (110 km). The closest airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, 110 km away.

For accommodation, temple trust guesthouses and private hotels are available nearby. Pilgrims can partake in traditional dry sweets and kumkum as prasadam, and free or subsidized mass feeding (bhojan prasad) is organized around midday.

The temple is wheelchair accessible, with dedicated parking available outside. Nearby attractions include the Modhera Sun Temple, Rani ki Vav in Patan, Vallabh Bhatt Ni Vav, Shri Umiya Mataji Temple in Unjha, and Thol Lake Bird Sanctuary.
