Ananthapura Lake Temple

This ancient riverbank temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with shrines for Mahishasuramarshini, Goshalee Krishna, and Ullakal Mahaganapathy, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings.

Ananthapura Lake Temple welcomes devotees for free darshan during its opening hours: 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The best time to visit is early in the morning between 5 and 8 AM, during the winter months from November to February, or in the festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include the Varshika Mahotsavam (Annual Festival) in February-March (Malayalam month of Kumbham) and Tapotsavam in April, drawing pilgrims from across the region.

Daily poojas are conducted in Sanskrit, Malayalam, and Kannada, with the Morning Pooja at 7:30 AM, Noon Pooja (Maha Pooja) at 12:30 PM, and Night Pooja at 7:30 PM.

After the Maha Pooja, devotees are offered prasadam in the form of cooked sweet rice/jaggery (Nivedyam) and a free vegetarian lunch (Annadanam).

Visitors are required to adhere to a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti/mundu or neat trousers with a simple shirt, while women are expected to wear saree, salwar kameez, or long skirts with blouses. Western wear and tight modern clothing are discouraged.

Reaching the temple is convenient: from Kumbla town on NH 66, take a local bus or auto towards Seethangoli/Badiyadka, travel about 4-5 km to Naikappu, and then follow the local road to the temple.
