About

Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swami Temple, popularly known as Annavaram Temple, is a renowned pilgrimage centre located atop Ratnagiri Hill in Annavaram, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, the temple also houses sanctums for Anantha Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, Sri Rama, Vana Durga, and Kanaka Durga, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking blessings from multiple deities.

This ancient hill temple, built in the Dravidian architectural style by Raja I.V. Ramarayanam, Zamindar of Kirlampudi estate, stands as a living heritage temple and draws pilgrims from across India. The temple is easily accessible by road and rail.

It is about 80 km from Rajahmundry and 120 km from Visakhapatnam, both of which have nearby airports. Annavaram Railway Station is just 3 km away, with convenient transport options such as APSRTC buses, autos, and taxis available for the short uphill journey.

Devotees can reach the temple either by driving up the paved road (with a toll fee and parking facilities at the base and limited parking on the hilltop) or by climbing 460 steps. The temple is open daily from 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing ample time for darshan and participation in rituals.

There are two types of darshan: free darshan and Seeghra darshan, the latter available for a fee of ₹200.

The temple is especially vibrant during the early morning hours and during major festivals such as Kalyanotsavam in May (Vaisakham), Devuni Mahostavam in October-November (Kartik), and the daily Satyanarayana Vratham, which is particularly auspicious on Purnima and Ekadashi.

A wide range of poojas is performed in Telugu and Sanskrit, including the popular Sri Satyanarayana Vratham (available at different price points), Suprabhata Seva, Abhishekam & Archana, Panchaharathulu, Ashtothara Sathanama Poojas, Devotee Abhishekams, Sri Vari Nitya Kalyanam, Darbaru Seva, and Ammavarla Ekanta Seva.

Dress code guidelines encourage men to wear traditional attire such as a white pancha or kurta/pant, and women to wear a saree with blouse or salwar kameez with dupatta.

The temple provides Devasthanam guest houses on Ratnagiri Hill and private hotels in Annavaram town, with online booking facilities for accommodation.

Devotees are treated to the famous Annavaram Prasadam, a sweet made from roasted wheat flour, ghee, sugar, and dried fruits, and free Annadanam is provided to all visitors.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, with cameras and mobiles to be deposited at the security counter before entering the inner shrine.

For those planning a visit, nearby attractions include the scenic Pampa River, Thalupulamma Lova Temple (15 km), Kakinada (50 km), and Rajahmundry (80 km). For more information, online darshan, and accommodation booking, visit the official website at https://annavaramdevasthanam.nic.in.
