Ranakpur Surya Narayan Temple

Situated on NH 162 Extension near the renowned Ranakpur Jain Temple Complex in Pali district, this hill temple is a striking example of Nagara (North Indian) architectural style.

The temple’s origins trace back to the 13th century, with significant reconstruction undertaken in the 15th century CE by local patrons during the era of Rana Kumbha, lending it both historical and spiritual significance.

The temple is dedicated to a form of Surya, the Sun deity, and serves as a revered destination for devotees and tourists alike.

The temple observes several vibrant festivals, including the Ranakpur Festival in December, Ratha Saptami or Surya Jayanti in January or February, Navratri during September-October, and Diwali in October-November.

Visitors are required to adhere to a modest dress code: men should wear full-length trousers or jeans with shirts or t-shirts that cover the shoulders, while women are expected to wear traditional or modest western attire that covers shoulders and knees.

Photography is generally allowed in the outer areas and courtyards, but may be restricted near the inner sanctum during worship. Leather items are strictly prohibited within the main precincts.
