Dholya Ganpati Temple Wai

The temple, built during the Maratha period by Sardar Ganpatrao Bhikaji Raste of the Raste family, stands as a living heritage monument managed by a local trust. The temple complex is renowned for its tranquil ambiance and traditional rituals.

Darshan is available free of charge, with temple timings from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM on regular days, and extended hours up to 10:00 PM during weekends or special occasions. The best time to visit includes early mornings (5–8 AM), late mornings, or during the evening aarti at 7:30 PM.

The winter months from November to February and weekdays are ideal for a peaceful experience, while the temple comes alive during the festival season. Daily poojas include the Morning Pooja at 7:00 AM, Naivedya at 11:30 AM, and the Evening Aarti at 7:30 PM.

Devotees can also participate in special Abhishek or Sankalp Pooja for a nominal fee. Rituals are performed in Sanskrit and Marathi, maintaining the temple’s traditional ethos.

Standard prasadam such as modaks, sugar, or pedas is distributed after prayers, with larger community offerings during major festivals. Dholya Ganpati Temple celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi (Ganeshotsav) in August-September and Sankashti Chaturthi every lunar month, along with the Krishnamai Festival.

The temple encourages a respectful dress code: men should wear traditional Indian attire or clean formal wear, while women are advised to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or similar modest clothing. Reaching the temple is convenient via road from Pune or Mumbai.

From Pune, take NH 48 or the Pune-Satara highway towards Shirwal/Wai, and from Mumbai, travel via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and onward to Wai. Regular MSRTC buses and private cabs connect Wai to Pune, Satara, and Mahabaleshwar. The temple is a short walk or auto-rickshaw ride from Wai ST Bus Stand.
