About

Chintpurni Devi Temple, also known as Chintpurni Shakti Peeth or Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi, is a revered pilgrimage centre and ancient hill temple located in the main bazaar area of Chintpurni, Una district, Himachal Pradesh.

As one of the prominent Shakti Peethas, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, worshipped here as Chhinnamastika Devi.

The sanctum also houses shrines for other deities including Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Durga, Kaleshwar Mahadev, Narahna Mahadev, Muchhkund Mahadev, and Shiv Bari, making it a spiritually significant destination for devotees from across India.

The temple’s architecture follows the Nagara (North Indian) style and is managed by a local trust.

It is accessible via well-connected roads, with detailed directions available for pilgrims traveling from Delhi through Chandigarh, Ropar, Nangal, Una, and Mubarakpur, finally reaching Chintpurni village.

Paid parking lots are available near the main entry gates and 2 km before the shrine, with wheelchair-accessible ramps and a Sugam Darshan lift-gate for senior citizens and specially-abled visitors.

Chintpurni Devi Temple is open for darshan in summer from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM and in winter from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM.

The best times to visit are early mornings, during the morning and evening aarti, in winter months (November to February), during festival seasons, and on weekdays for a less crowded experience. Darshan options include free entry or special darshan passes priced at ₹50 and ₹1100.

Daily poojas are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi, including Morning Sanan & Aarti (6:00–6:30 AM), Bhog (12:00–12:30 PM), Evening Sanan & Aarti (6:30 PM or 8:00–8:30 PM), and the Sayan closing ritual at 10:00 PM.

Major festivals celebrated here are Chaitra Navratri (March–April), Shravana Navratri & Mata Chintpurni Mela (July–August), and Ashwin Navratri (September–October).

Devotees are encouraged to follow the temple’s dress code: traditional or conservative attire for men, and traditional Indian attire for women, with modesty guidelines strictly enforced.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the inner sanctum, though casual photography is allowed in the outer courtyard. The temple provides standard prasadam such as boondi ladoo, dry sweets, coconuts, red chunris, and floral garlands.

Community-run langars serve free vegetarian meals, especially during Navratra melas.

Accommodation is plentiful, with options like HPTDC The Chintpurni Heights, Hotel President, Hotel The Pride, HOTEL THE JMC CHINTPURNI DHAM, and numerous guest houses and dharamshalas within walking distance of the shrine.

For those arriving by train, Amb Andaura Railway Station is 19 km away, Hoshiarpur Railway Station is 42 km, and Una Himachal Railway Station is 55 km.
