About

Baba Balak Nath Temple Deotsidh is a revered hill and cave temple located in Village Chakmoh, nestled in the Deotsidh hills of the Shahtala region near Barsar, Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh.

This ancient pilgrimage centre, also known locally as Deotsidh, Deothsidh Temple, Gufa, or Thara, attracts devotees from across India seeking spiritual solace and blessings.

The temple is dedicated to Baba Balak Nath and also houses shrines to Shri Peepal Mata, Bhartrihari, Sidh Durga, Lord Shiva, Bhairava, and Radha-Krishna, making it a significant spiritual destination for followers of multiple deities.

The temple complex features a mixed and renovated architectural style, blending traditional elements with modern enhancements. As a living heritage temple, it continues to be a vibrant hub for religious activities and community gatherings.

The main shrine is situated within a cave, and the approach involves an uphill walk with stone staircases from the ample parking areas provided at the base. During peak festival times, paid parking lots are recommended for convenience.

Baba Balak Nath Temple Deotsidh is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing devotees to plan their darshan throughout the day. The best time to visit is early morning between 5:00 and 8:00 AM or during the morning hours up to noon, especially on weekdays when the temple is less crowded.

The winter months (November to February), summer (March to May), and the festival season are particularly favored by pilgrims. Darshan at the temple is free, and special poojas or havans can be performed in Hindi.

Category A Poojan/Havan is available in the morning for INR 2,100, while Category B Poojan/Havan requires reporting before 8:00 AM and is priced at INR 11,000.

Women devotees offer prayers from a designated platform facing the cave, and all visitors are expected to wear modest and traditional attire covering shoulders and knees.

The temple observes several important festivals, including Mela Chetar (Chet Chaala Mela) in March-April, Shravan Ashtami in July-August, Baba Balak Nath Jayanti in January-February, Navratri, and Guru Purnima.

During these times, free community meals (langar/bhandara) are organized, and devotees can partake in prasadam such as Rot (sweet flatbread) and Halwa, especially on Sankranti. Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the main shrine area and during aarti sessions.

Mobile phones must be kept on silent or switched off near the sanctum. For those unable to visit in person, online darshan is available through the official website, where further information and contact details (+91-8219167010) can also be found.

Baba Balak Nath Temple Deotsidh stands as a beacon of faith and tradition, offering a serene and spiritually uplifting experience in the scenic hills of Himachal Pradesh.
