Ambaji Temple (Shakti Peeth)

This ancient hill temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, also worshipped as Amman, and is counted among the prominent Shakti Peethas in India.

The temple complex also houses shrines for other deities, including Ambikeshwar Mahadev (Lord Shiva), Varahi Mata, Ganapati, Khodiyar Mata, Ajaya Mata, and Hanumanji, making it a significant destination for devotees seeking blessings from multiple divine forms.

The temple welcomes visitors daily with darshan timings from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Entry for darshan is free for all devotees.

Special poojas and aartis mark the spiritual rhythm of the day, starting with Mangala Aarti (6:00 AM – 7:30 AM), followed by Rajbhog Aarti (12:00 PM – 12:30 PM), Sandhya Aarti (7:00 PM), and concluding with Shayan Aarti at 9:00 PM.

Rituals are performed in Gujarati, Sanskrit, and Hindi, and special ceremonies like Chandi Homam, Navchandi Yagna, and Dhaja Puja are also observed.

Ambaji Temple is especially vibrant during festivals such as Bhadarvi Poonam Mahamelo (August–September), Navratri (Chaitra and Ashwin), Poshsud Punam (Mata Ambaji’s Birthday), and Ambaji Pragatya Mahotsav.

The best time to visit is during winter (November to February), festival seasons, early mornings, or during the evening aarti.

Reaching the temple is convenient: pilgrims can arrive at Ahmedabad, Palanpur, or Abu Road by train or flight, then take a state transport bus, private coach, or taxi to Ambaji town. The temple is less than 1 km from the Ambaji Bus Stand and is accessible by foot or auto-rickshaw.

The nearest railway stations are Abu Road (20 km) and Palanpur Junction (60 km), while Udaipur Airport (157 km) and Ahmedabad Airport (179 km) are the closest airports.
