About

Gajanan Maharaj Temple Shegaon, also known locally as Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple, Santnagri Shegaon, and the Pandharpur of Vidarbha, is a prominent pilgrimage centre and ashram temple located in Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Shegaon, in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra.

This modern temple, built by the Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan trust with the craftsmanship of Kisan Mistri and Khandu Mistri, stands as a living heritage temple and is managed by a local panchayat trust.

The temple is dedicated to the revered Gajanan Maharaj and also houses shrines for other deities including Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshman, Lord Hanuman, Lord Vithoba, and Goddess Rukmini.

The architecture is a blend of mixed and renovated styles, reflecting both tradition and recent enhancements. The temple complex is well-known for its spiritual ambiance and organized daily rituals. Pilgrims can participate in a variety of poojas and aartis conducted in Marathi and Sanskrit.

The day begins with the Kakada Aarti at 5:00 AM, followed by Abhishek on Shree's Paduka and Panchamrut Pooja. The Madhyanha Aarti and Maha Naivedya take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

In the evening, devotees can attend the Shri Dnyaneshwari Pravachan, Haripath, and the special Shree's Palkhi Procession on Thursdays and Dashami. The temple closes with Shejaarti at 9:30 PM. Free darshan is available to all visitors, and the temple operates daily from 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM.

The temple observes several important festivals, such as Shri Pragat Din Utsav in February, Shri Punyatithi Utsav in September, Guru Purnima and Aashadhi Ekadashi in June–July, and Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti in March–April.

The best time to visit is during winter (November to February), early morning hours, or during festival seasons. Reaching the temple is convenient. Shegaon Railway Station (SEG) is just 1.5 km away, with Akola Junction and Jalgaon Junction also accessible.

The nearest airports are Akola Airport (42 km), Aurangabad Airport (150 km), and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur (280 km).

Visitors can arrive by train, bus, or car, with abundant free parking, wheelchair accessibility, and free shuttle buses from the railway station and accommodation.

For accommodation, the trust-run Bhakta Niwas provides clean, affordable rooms, while private hotels and an MTDC resort are available within 1–2 km. Free unlimited wholesome Mahaprasad meals are served daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with traditional boondi and laddus distributed as prasad.
