Balaji Temple Washim

This temple, built during the Maratha period by Bhavani Kalu, Diwan of the Bhosle dynasty, stands as a significant spiritual and heritage landmark, recognized as a state heritage site and managed by a local trust.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Venkateswara, with sanctums also devoted to Lord Ramchandra, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati, Brahma, Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Naga. Pilgrims and devotees from across Maharashtra and beyond visit the temple to seek blessings and participate in daily rituals.

General darshan and daily aarti are conducted in the morning and evening, with free entry for all visitors. For those wishing to perform special prayers, Archana or ritual offerings are available for a nominal fee.

The temple rituals are conducted in Marathi and Sanskrit, maintaining the traditional spiritual ambiance. Balaji Temple Washim welcomes devotees daily from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM, with timings sometimes extending from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM during festival days.

The best time to visit is during winter (November to February), the festival season, early mornings (5–8 AM), evening aarti, or during the annual Brahmotsavam.

The temple observes a strict dress code: men are required to wear traditional attire, removing shirts and leather accessories before entering the inner sanctum, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest traditional clothing that covers shoulders and knees.

Major festivals celebrated at the temple include Shri Balaji Yatra/Ashwin Mela (September–October), Rathotsav (Chariot Festival) on the 9th day of Ashwin, Kojagiri Purnima & Gopal Kala, and Ram Navami in the Chaitra month.

During these times, traditional laddus are offered as prasadam, and community meals (annadanam) are organized for devotees. Reaching Balaji Temple Washim is convenient via NH 161 or public transit to Washim city.

From the Washim Bus Stand or Washim Railway Station (2 km away), auto-rickshaws or taxis can take you directly to Deopeth/Balaji Mandir Road. The temple is also accessible from nearby railway stations like Kata Road and Kekatumar, and the closest airports are in Nanded, Aurangabad, and Nagpur.

Parking is available in designated town zones or near the lake, though narrow lanes restrict large vehicles from reaching the entrance. The outer quadrangle is accessible, but visitors must climb steps and walk barefoot to enter the inner sanctum.
