Shila Devi Temple Amer Fort

This hill temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti (Amman) and is recognized as a Shakti Peetha, drawing devotees and tourists alike to its sacred and royal ambiance.

The temple also enshrines other deities such as Kal Bhairav, Navadurgas, Mahavidyas, and Lord Ganesh, making it a significant spiritual destination in Rajasthan. The temple is an architectural gem, reflecting the grandeur of Rajasthani style and royal heritage.

It stands as an ASI protected monument and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage ensemble, further enhancing its cultural and historical significance. Built by Raja Man Singh I of Amer, the temple’s precise historical period remains unknown or disputed, adding an element of mystery to its legacy.

Visitors to Shila Devi Temple can experience a serene darshan with free entry, making it accessible to all. The temple operates daily with timings from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, remaining closed between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours or in the winter months from November to February, as well as during major festivals such as Navratri (Shardiya Navratri in September-October and Chaitra Navratri in March-April), when the temple is adorned with vibrant decorations and special rituals.

A series of traditional poojas are performed in Sanskrit and Hindi, including Bal Bhog Aarti at 6:00 AM, Jal Bhog Aarti at 7:30 AM, Raj Bhog Aarti at 10:00 AM, Sandhya Aarti at sunset, and Shayan Aarti at 8:00 PM.

Devotees are offered traditional prasadam such as sweets, flowers, and charnamrit, with consecrated wine or spirits presented by priests during specific rituals. While there is no large-scale daily annadanam, numerous restaurants and cafes are available in the vicinity.

To reach the temple, visitors can arrive at Jaipur city center and proceed north on Amer Road toward Amer Fort, approximately 11–15 km from central Jaipur.

At the base of the fort near Maota Lake, access is available via a walk, auto-rickshaw, jeep, or even an elephant ride to the main entrance (Jaleb Chowk). The temple is located near the main courtyard entrance of the fort.

Paid parking is available near Maota Lake, and wheelchair-accessible pathways lead up to the fort entrance, though assistance may be needed for steps into the temple.
