About

Chinmaya Tapovan Hanuman Temple, also known as Chinmaya Tapovan Ram Mandir or Sidhbari Rama Temple, is a serene hill temple and ashram complex nestled in Tapovan, Sidhbari, Dharamshala, in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

This pilgrimage centre is dedicated primarily to Lord Rama, with sanctums also devoted to Sita, Lakshmana, and Lord Hanuman.

Built in the modern era by Swami Chinmayananda and managed by the Chinmaya Mission, the temple stands out for its mixed and renovated architectural style, blending traditional and contemporary elements.

The temple is situated amidst the tranquil Himalayan foothills, offering a peaceful environment ideal for spiritual seekers and devotees. The ashram complex, also referred to as Sandeepany Himalayas, is a significant destination for those seeking darshan and spiritual learning.

Visitors can participate in free darshan, making it accessible to all devotees. Chinmaya Tapovan Hanuman Temple welcomes visitors daily, with timings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

The best time to visit is in the morning between 8 AM and 12 PM, and the temple remains pleasant throughout the year, with winter (November to February), summer (March to May), and monsoon (June to September) all being suitable seasons for pilgrimage.

The temple encourages modest attire for all visitors. Men are advised to wear traditional or conservative western clothing such as long trousers and shirts or t-shirts, while shorts and sleeveless tops are discouraged.

Women should opt for kurtis, salwar kameez, or full-length trousers or jeans with modest tops, avoiding revealing or tight-fitting clothes. For those arriving by vehicle, open parking space is available near the ashram or complex entry area.

The temple complex features open pathways, though some areas require moderate walking and may pose challenges for visitors with severe mobility impairments. Photography is generally restricted or prohibited in sacred inner sanctums, meditation zones, and during prayer or aarti sessions.

Visitors are requested to respect local signage and turn off phones and cameras near prayer spaces.
